We work with the community to help build a vibrant, equal society where everyone has the opportunity

Successful Launch of Speak Up for a Cleaner Southall This morning, we were delighted to launch the first of our monthly Southall Community Clean-Up events as part of the Speak Up for a Cleaner Southall project.Residents and volunteers came together to help improve the local environment, collecting numerous bags of litter and showing a fantastic commitment to community action — even in the wet weather. This marks the beginning of a new monthly clean-up programme that will encourage more residents to take ownership of their local streets, promote environmental responsibility, and help create cleaner, greener and safer public spaces for everyone in Southall.A huge thank you to everyone who turned out and helped make the launch such a success. Your enthusiasm, teamwork and dedication show exactly what can be achieved when a community pulls together. We look forward to welcoming even more residents to future events.#speakupforacleanersouthall #cleanersouthall #CommunityCleanup #southall #EnvironmentalAction Volunteer CommunityPride CommunityAction GreenerSouthall GOSAD ... Mental Health Awareness Week: Mind Your LanguageGOS&D was delighted to join MindFood, one of our partners in the Greenford, Northolt and Perivale Connected Communities consortium, for a beautiful creative and nature-based wellbeing session. We attended with ESOL learners who have recently completed engagement with us. The session gave learners and families a chance to connect with nature, practise language, enjoy food together, take part in creative activities, and spend time in a warm and welcoming community space. The theme “Mind Your Language” was very meaningful. For many people, mental health and wellbeing are closely linked to language, culture, confidence, belonging and being able to express yourself in a safe space.A big thank you to MindFood for hosting such a thoughtful and inclusive session, and thank you to all the learners, families and facilitators who made the day so special.Together, through the GNP Connected Communities consortium, we are helping to build stronger, healthier and more connected communities.#MentalHealthAwarenessWeek#MindYourLanguage#GOSAD#MindFood#ConnectedCommunitiesESOLCommunityWellbeingCreativityAndWellbeingGreenford Northolt Perivale ... Today we were pleased to welcome colleagues from LSE Housing and Communities to GOS&D for the first fieldwork session linked to their research on language and cultural barriers in social housing tenancies. The session brought together ESOL learners living in social housing to share their experiences of understanding tenancy rights, communicating with landlords and housing providers, accessing support, and navigating housing systems when English is not their first language. At GOS&D, we know that language access is not a small issue. It can shape whether residents understand letters, report repairs, manage rent and bills, seek advice early, and feel confident exercising their rights. We were proud to support the session with our multilingual facilitators, helping to create a safe, welcoming and accessible space for residents to contribute meaningfully. This is also part of our wider commitment to ethical and community-centred research — research that listens with respect, values lived experience, and closes the feedback loop with the people who give their time and share their stories. Many thanks to LSE Housing and Communities for working with us, and to our learners for their valuable contributions.@londonschoolofeconomics #SocialHousing #ESOL #CommunityResearch #HousingRights #LivedExperience Ealing GOSD ResearchForChange ... Big win for Ealing residents today at the Ealing Citizens Pre-Election Accountability Assembly.Candidates from the Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrat parties have all publicly committed to support the Five Basics for Temporary Accommodation if elected in May.This is a major step forward for families living in temporary accommodation — and proof that when residents organise, speak up and stand together, change happens. The Five Basics are simple, fair and necessary:✔️ Cooking facilities✔️ Laundry access✔️ Wi-Fi✔️ Secure storage✔️ Clear informationThese are not luxuries. They are the minimum standards every family deserves for dignity, wellbeing and stability. At the event, some of the residents in temporary accommodation who have been supported by GOS&D were present and bravely shared their lived experiences of life in TA, helping decision-makers hear directly from those most affected.GOS&D also distributed information about our new Dignity in Temporary Accommodation project, supporting residents in Ealing and Hounslow to strengthen voice, shape policy and drive lasting change.Today was about commitments. After the election, it must be about delivery. We will be holding all parties to their word.@ealingcouncil @trustforlondon ... See MoreSee Less
