Neighbourly Care Consortium

GOSAD is part of 22 Organisations in Ealing delivering a Borough wide project lead by Neighbourly Care.

Being part of the community.

Funded Jointly by London Borough of Ealing and Ealing CCG. The Aim of this project is to support vulnerable adults and their carers to be part of the community, remain independent, have the opportunity to work, learn, make friends and have a range of activities to choose from.

GOSAD role in this project is to run the Hub at Featherstone Terrace and support other hubs in the consortium.

Some of the Services GOSAD provides at Featherstone Terrace to vulnerable adults and their carers includes.

  • Advice and information on Attendance allowance, Carers allowance, PIP and Housing benefit.
  • Signposting and referral to other Agencies.
  • Advice about healthy eating and the benefits of exercise and Sign posting to other services to assist in developing healthy lifestyles.
  • Support vulnerable adults and carers to access training, employment or volunteering.
  • Basic Computer Class
  • ESOL Class
  • Employability Skills Training

Mental Health Promotion

Funded by Public Health Ealing the aim of this project is to promote mental health and well-being amongst vulnerable groups and in particularly members of Somali community affected with Khat. Although Khat was banned in the UK in 2014 and made illegal it still enter the UK and is sold in some part of Ealing.20150525_220226(1)

Within the Somali community in Ealing, there are very high incidences of mental health problems.

GOSAD has been working with people affected by Khat for the past 10 years, Some of the services offered under this project includes.

  • Advice, information, signposting on whole range of issues including Attendance allowance, Carers allowance, PIP and Housing benefit, JCP.
  • Advice on housing, health and immigration
  • Employability Skills Training
  • Computer Training and ESOL Courses
  • One2one and group advice on the effect of Khat on individual and Community
  • Support vulnerable adults and carers to access training, employment or volunteering
  • Somali Mental Health User Support Group
